During the Friday, August 31, Dillon football game, former Dillon player Jamie Callahan was awarded South Carolina Gatorade High School Player of the Year.

Dillon High School Principal Shawn Johnson and head baseball coach Greg Dozier were on hand to present the award to Callahan.

The award is given to an athlete based on athletics, academics, and character.

Callahan was a star pitcher for the Wildcats baseball team and was taken by the Boston Red Sox in the MLB draft. He recently wrapped his rookie season in the minors with the Gulf Coast League Red Sox.
