Dallas Sweat
Coker College softball coach David Hanna announced last week that former Latta softball standout Dallas Sweat will be playing for the Cobras.

Sweat was a two-sport athlete at Latta High School, competing in both softball and cross country. She graduated from Latta’s Honors Program with a 3.0 GPA in 2012.

In her senior year of softball, Sweat had 26 hits in 71 at bats, with 19 singles, five doubles, and two triples, for 21 RBI and 20 runs scored. Her batting average was .366 and she was struck out only four times.

In 2011, Sweat had 34 hits including one home run, a triple, and eight doubles. Her batting average was .400 with 28 RBI and 31 runs scored.

She was named All-State in 2010 and 2011 and All-Region 2011 and 2012. She was also selected to play in the 2012 Class A/4A North-South All-Star games.

Sweat joined Latta’s cross country team in 2010. She won the coaches’ award in cross country and served as team captain in her senior year.

In addition to high school athletics, Sweat also played travel softball with the Latta Phantoms in 2010 and 2011, and with Coastal Lightning in 2012. She also played recreation softball in Dillon from 2003 to 2006, and in Latta from 2007 to 2012. She also played recreation soccer in Dillon from 2000 to 2007.

In a press release, Hanna said that Coker is excited about adding Sweat to their softball program. He said she will be an excellent addition that will help make the team competitive. Sweat is expected to play first base for the Coker Cobras.

Sweat is the daughter of Donna and James Sweat of Latta. Her brother, Maston Sweat, also plays varsity football for Latta and participates on the cross country and track teams.
