A Dillon man has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime for an incident that occurred on Thursday night at 11th Avenue and Calhoun Street.
The report states that the man went to the home to confront the victim about ending their relationship.
The victim’s name and identifying information has been redacted from the report.
The report states that “the victim was at the incident location when the subject began texting and calling her to meet him outside of her house, and she didn’t want any trouble at her house. The victim told the subject not to come over, but he showed up at her side door, and when she met him at the door, the subject hit her in the head with the gun. The subject then began pointing the gun at the victim, and challenged her on ending the relationship. After a couple of seconds, he put the gun to her head and pulled the trigger.”
The victim was transported to the hospital by Dillon County EMS. The City of Dillon Police Department was assisted by the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol in the investigation.

A shooting occurred at a house at 11th and Calhoun Street in Dillon on Thursday night. City of Dillon Police officers and a representative of the Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s Office were at the scene. The suspect is alive, and it is The Herald’s understanding that the suspect is in custody. No further details were available at the time of this posting at 10:40 p.m.
