Dillon’s Dixie Darlings won their elimination game against Florence on Wednesday night but fell to Turbeville on Thursday in the District championship.

On Wednesday, Dillon defeated Florence 15-13 to stay alive in the tournament.

Avery Lovell got a big hit for Dillon that became an inside the park home run due to throwing errors from Florence. Hadleigh Herndon hit two doubles, and Abby Bristow had a good game at first base.
Lexi Rogers had a double and “played a very good defensive game,” according to coach Lee Herndon.

But on Thursday night, Dillon faced a possible double header as they faced Turbeville. Turbeville had already downed Dillon 14-6 in the opening round of the tournament Monday night and had advanced to the championship undefeated, so Dillon would have needed to defeat Turbeville twice to claim the title.

But Turbeville came out strong again Thursday night overpowering Dillon 12-1 to claim the title.
Turbeville will now move on to the state tournament in Hanahan beginning Friday, July 6.
