The Democratic and Republican primaries were held on Tuesday.
Local elections were on the Democratic ballot and included the Dillon County Council District 4 Seat and the S.C. Senate District 30 seat. The U.S. House of Representatives for the newly created District 7 was on both the Democratic and Republican ballots.
In the Dillon County Council District Four race, T.F. “Buzzy” Finklea, Jr. edged out incumbent Aron Gandy by 17 votes. The final unofficial count was 385 votes for Finklea and 368 votes for Gandy.
In Dillon County, Senator Kent Williams won decisively over challenger Patrick Richardson with 1,840 votes to Richardson’s 376 votes. Districtwide, the unofficial totals were Williams-4,666 votes and Richardson-1,278 votes.
In the Democratic race for the U.S. House of Representatives District 7, in Dillon County, Preston Brittain led the ticked with 1,043 votes followed closely by Gloria Bromell Tinibu with 998 votes. Parnell Diggs received 136 votes and Harry Pavilack received 92 votes.
Districtwide, Tinibu led the ticket with 16,370 votes. Brittain received 12,300 votes. Diggs received 1,404 votes, and Pavilack received 1,143 votes.
In the Republican race for the U.S. House of Representatives District 7, in Dillon County, Andre´ Bauer received 541 votes followed by Jay Jordan with 374 votes, Tom Rice with 120 votes, Chad Prosser with 31 votes, Katherine Jenerette with 27 votes, Renee Culler with 7 votes, Dick Withington with 6 votes, Jim Mader with 4 votes, and Randal Wallace with 2 votes. Districtwide, Bauer led the district with 12,002 votes followed by Rice with 10,235 votes.
Other totals included Renee Culler-286, Katherine Jenerette-1,459, Jay Jordan-8,093, Jim Mader-188, Chad Prosser-3,818, Randal Wallace-695, and Dick Withington-645.
A runoff will be held in the Republican Primary for U.S. House of Representatives District 7.
The election will be certified in Dillon County on Thursday (today) at 9 a.m.
