The Lake View Wild Gators were eliminated from the Class A Lower State playoffs as they fell 2-1 to Lamar’s Silver Foxes in Lake View on Monday.
Lamar earned both of their runs in the top of the fourth inning with Jeffrey Plummer hitting a solo home run. Chris Ford drove in Lake View’s only run in the bottom of the fifth.
Lamar’s Alex Dorriety pitched all seven innings for the win, allowing four hits, one earned run, and one walk while striking out 11. Nate Lewis took the loss for Lake View, pitching six innings for six hits, two earned runs, three walks, and five outs.
Jeffrey Plummer led Lamar at bat, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple, and an RBI. J.T. Windham also went 2-for-3 for Lamar. Lamar had seven hits and one error in the win.
Chris Ford went 1-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Wild Gators at bat. Lake View had four hits and two errors in the loss.
Lake View finishes the season with a 15-7 overall record.
Lamar will travel to face Johnsonville tonight, with the winner facing Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Friday for the Class A Lower State title. The Red Raiders defeated Johnsonville 10-3 in Monday’s playoff action.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph’s will host the Upper State Championship on Friday. They will face either Chesterfield or Ninety-Six for the title, with the State Championship series set to begin on May 14.
