Art Shealy, the photograper of this cardinal, writes:
“While Robin and were camping recently at Wateree Lake Camp I was awakened by a strange sound about daybreak . At first I thought a raccoon had decided to make his presence or that a coyote was rummaging around. I looked out of the window and, to my surprise, there was a beautiful male cardinal attempting to gain the attention of his own reflection in the mirrored-glass windows on either said of the motor home. The cardinal would land in a nearby oak tree, pose for a while, then take off to attack the reflection. Oh, it wasn’t much of an attack; just some wing fluttering and a few pecks for good measure. Each time the cardinal would switch sides of the motor home, as though he was taking up two battles simultaneously.”
