The first round of playoffs is over with both Dillon and Latta teams picking up wins, while the Lake View boys edged and Lady Gators fell to East Clarendon.
SOFTBALL
The Lady Wildcats opened the playoffs on Wednesday, taking down Lake City 12-1 in five innings. Taylor Price pitched a complete game, allowing just four hits and striking out seven. Shaquailla German went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI.
Dillon will host Swansea on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
On Thursday, Latta’s Lady Vikings shut out Lamar 15-0 in four innings. Anna Rogers pitched a no-hitter for Latta and Dallas Sweat went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
Latta will travel to Branchville on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
Also on Thursday, Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators were shut out 10-0 by East Clarendon in five innings. Morgan Herlong took the loss for the Lady Gators, and Herlong and Chelsea Spivey each had one hit.
Lake View will travel to face Baptist Hill on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
BASEBALL
On Thursday, Dillon took down Manning 10-1 with Jamie Callahan leading the charge. He struck out 12 and had a home run in the win.
Dillon will host Academic Magnet on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Latta shut out Hannah-Pamplico 9-0 on Thursday with Jeremy Jenkins getting the win. Brandon Lane and Josh Bowen each had two hits, and Lane had two RBIs.
Latta will be at Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
Lake View edged East Clarendon 2-1 on Thursday with Nate Lewis picking up the win, pitching seven innings and allowing just three hits with six outs. Chris Ford had two hits to lead the Wild Gators at bat.
Lake View will be at Military Magnet on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
