Dillon’s Lady Wildcats were rained out against Aynor on Wednesday, but were back in action on Friday in Pawley’s Island to take down the Waccamaw Warriors 12-2 in five innings.
Dillon scored five runs in the top of the second and followed up with three in the third, and two each in the fourth and fifth for the win. Waccamaw scored one run each in the second and third innings.
Darby Hamer pitched four innings to pick up the win, allowing just one hit, two runs, and three walks with six outs. Shaquailla German pitched one inning, facing three batters for two outs. Hallie Butler took the loss for the Warriors, pitching four innings for seven hits, eight runs, seven earned runs, a walk, and an out.
At bat, Shaquailla German hit a two-run homer and Da’Kerhia Samuel hit a solo home run to lead Dillon. German went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, and Samuel went 1-for-3 with an RBI and one run scored.
Also at bat for Dillon, Tara Grimsley went 2-for-4 with an RBI; Dallas Rowell went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored; Ma’Kayla Drake went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs, and one run scored; Taylor Price picked up two RBIs with a stolen base and one run scored; Lillie Celmer picked up an RBI; Candance Powers scored one run with a walk; Shar’Asia Samuel stole a base; and Shayna Covington, Rebecca Callahan, and Darby Hamer each went 1-for-3 with an RBI and one run scored.
In the field, Covington and German each made two put outs, while Leah McMillan, Taylor Price, and Ma’Kayla Drake each made one. Price picked up two assists, and Grimsley and Callahan each made one.
The Lady Wildcats are 19-2 overall record with an undefeated 9-0 in the region.
Dillon is scheduled to be at Darlington tonight at 6:30 p.m. to close out the regular season with a non-league match. Dillon is scheduled to host the first round of playoffs, with the playoffs scheduled to begin this week.
