Here is another recipe from that recently discovered recipe box that was my mothers. It was labeled Nell McKellar’s cornbread recipe. Nell was another good cook from Rowland and one of my Mama’s very good friends.

Nell’s Cornbread
2 cups of cornmeal
1/2 cup of sugar
3/4 cup of flour
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1 tablespoon of salt
2 eggs
2 cups of milk
Bake about thirty minutes at 375 degrees.
The recipe did not say, but I’m thinking it was made in a cast iron skillet?
I’m sure a baking pan will work fine too.
