Dillon’s Lady Wildcats battled Darlington to a 1-0 finish in varsity softball action on Wednesday.

Dillon’s Shaquailla German picked up the win on the mound, facing 28 batters and striking out 16 across seven innings. She allowed no hits and only three walks in the shut out.

German also led Dillon at bat, going 2-for-3 with one RBI, scoring Shayna Covington in the fourth inning to get the win. Rebecca Callahan and Covington each went 1-for-3 for Dillon’s only other hits.

In the field, Covington had two put outs, while Darby Hamer and Taylor Price each had one. German made three assists.

Sarah Hardee took the loss for Darlington, pitching six innings with four hits, one runs, and one earned run. She struck out 12.

The Wildcats are now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 8-2A.

Dillon was scheduled to host Lake View in a double-header on Monday night. Tonight the Lady Wildcats will be at Mullins at 6:30 p.m., and on Friday, March 23, Dillon will be back at home to host Waccamaw. Make plans to attend to support our local teams!
