The chairman of the Dillon County Tomato Contest, Tom Rowland, announces the rules for the 2012 event. The contest has grown to almost 30 participants last year, and they hope others will join them and showcase their skills in growing quality tomatoes.
Any Dillon County citizen may enter the contest, and the tomato plants may be planted at the grower’s discretion. The tomato plants must be grown in Dillon County, and only four plants per entry will be judged. The grower will choose the best four plants to be judged. Cherry, grape, or paste types varieties will not be judged.
All entries should be given to Dick McKenzie (843-774-5307) or Tom Rowland (843-774-2007) before April 15, 2012. The contest will be held on June 26 if weather permits.
