Latta’s Kelvin Ladson signed a commitment letter for a full scholarship with Mars Hill College on Wednesday, February 29.

Ladson is a defensive back for the Latta VIkings and has played at the varsity level since ninth grade. He began playing football in seventh grade thanks to his brothers Raahsaan and Tonney, Jr., who got him interested in the sport. Both his brothers have influenced him greatly, and both have served in the military – Raahsaan in the Navy and Tonney, Jr. in the army.

Kelvin’s hobbies include playing football and basketball. He plans to major in business administration and to open a business of his own after college.

Ladson is the son of Brenda and Tonney Ladson. Brenda is the librarian at Blenheim Elementary Middle School, and Tonney works at Perdue.

Brenda says that she, Tonney, and their entire family are very proud of Kelvin, and have always tried to instill in him that God comes first and to always be with God.

Latta coaches Chris German and Douglas Jackson and Athletic Director Michael Rogers were also in attendance for the signing. Ladson credits German as a “big brother” and mentor who helped him develop as an athlete.
