National School Counselors Week was observed the week of February 6-10.
Counselors across the nation were recognized for providing services and counseling to students.
Elementary counselors provide instruction related to career awareness, drug and alcohol abuse, appropriate behavior, nice manners, test taking skills, and positive character traits.
Kellyson Poe, counselor ant South and Stewart Heights, was recognized for her dedication to the boys and girls at both schools.
She received cards and gift certificates in recognition.
She is especially loved by the kids because she runs the character stores at both schools. She and the teachers recognize students for displaying positive character traits by handing out “Character Bucks”.
When students save up enough bucks, they get to go shopping at Ms. Poe’s Character Store. Needless to say, everyone loves Ms. Poe!
