The Dillon Wildcats fell to Andrews 77-66 on Wednesday, February 15, in the first round of the Boys Class AA playoffs.

The Wildcats started the game leading 18-10 going into the second quarter. But the Yellow Jackets rallied to outscore Dillon 17-10 in the second to cut the Wildcat lead to just 28-27 at the half. Andrews outscored Dillon 22-12 in the third to take a 49-40 lead into the fourth, where they outscored the Wildcats 28-26 to claim the 77-66 win.

Harold Langley led Andrews with a game-high 32 points, including five three pointers, and Rodquel Davis earned 18 for the Yellow Jackets. Monte McCrea scored 14, Travis Collins earned seven, Ervin Heard added four, and Keon Williams netted two in the win.

Dillon was led by Jalik Bethea with a team-high 24 points and Breon Page with 21 points, including four three-pointers. Kwinton Smith scored 10 points, John Caulder earned five, Julius Saunders scored four, and Shaqui Cabbagestalk added two.

Dillon finishes the season with a 12-12 overall record.

Andrews continued on to the second round of playoffs on Saturday, February 18, but fell to North Charleston 57-40. North Charleston will now host Region 8’s #2 seed Mullins, who defeated #1 Silver Bluff 57-28 in round two.

Elsewhere in the Class AA lower state bracket, Timberland defeated Woodland 59-51 and Region 8’s #1 seed Marion defeated Edisto 70-60. The Swamp Foxes will host Timberland on Wednesday, February 22, in their third round matchup.

In the upper state bracket, Newberry edged Eau Claire 60-59 to host Carolina in the third round matchup after Carolina defeated Strom Thurmond 68-66. Lee Central defeated Broome 59-50 and will host Keenan on Wednesday. Keenan defeated Saluda 67-35. All four remaining upper state teams finished at the top of the region.

The lower and upper state championship games will be played on Saturday, February 25, at 3:30 p.m., with the state championship to be held on Saturday, March 3, at the Colonial Center in Columbia.
