The Johnsonville Flashes slipped past Latta to pick up a 66-61 win over the Vikings in boys basketball action in Latta on Tuesday.

The Vikings started the game strong with a 20-12 first quarter, but the Flashes rallied for a 20-13 second period, cutting Latta’s lead to just one point at the half. Johnsonville dominated the court in the third as they outscored Latta 20-10 to take a nine point lead. The Vikings rallied in the fourth to knock four points off the lead at 18-14, but couldn’t close the five point gap before the buzzer.

Erion Black and Cordea Wilson each scored 14 points to lead Johnsonville in the win, with Aaron Mack adding 10 and Shawn Lawrence scoring eight. Savon Edwards and Antron Davis each added six, Robert Black scored four, and Chris Hicks and Tately Anderson each contributed two.

D.J. Legette led Latta with a game-high 20 points, followed by Rajit McFadden with 14 and Donell Stanley with 13. R.J. McClam scored eight points, Tyrell Sabb earned four, and Darius Jones added two for the Vikings.

With the win, Johnsonville claims the Region 8A title, finishing the regular season 17-5 overall and 10-2 in the league. Latta is now 6-11 overall and 5-6 for fourth place in the region.
