The Latta Vikings picked up a 77-50 win over Creek Bridge on Friday, but fell to Hemingway 73-64 on Tuesday.
The Vikings ended the week hosting the Creek Bridge Warriors and got off to a strong start to lead 17-2 at the end of the first quarter. The Vikings widened the gap with a 22-16 second quarter to lead 39-18 at the half. Latta outscored Creek Bridge 18-17 in the third and wrapped up the game with a 20-15 fourth quarter.
Tyrell Sabb led the Vikings with a game-high 16 points, with Donell Stanley adding 11 and R.J. McClam earning 10. Ken’Che Page scored nine, Ty’Sean Burgess and Charles McGill each added eight, and D.J. Legette and Ne’Quan Williams each scored six, with Rajit McFadden netting three.
The Warriors were led by Vic Williams with a team-high 14 points, with Rashawn Rogers adding 11 and Chris Crawford scoring 10. Jamal Williams added eight points for Creek Bridge and Rajuan Woodberry and A.J. Finklea each added two.
On Tuesday, the Vikings faced off against the Hemingway Tigers and came away with a 73-64 loss.
Latta started strong, taking a 17-14 lead in the first quarter, but a strong 24-15 second from Hemingway gave them a 38-32 lead at the half. The Tigers widened the gap in the third by going 18-15, and both teams added 17 points in the fourth to give Hemingway the win.
Azrial Moye scored a game-high 27 points to lead Hemingway, with Dominique Platt adding 14. Jabril Solomon and D’Armond Player each added seven, J.D. Williams scored six, Demetrius Hampton and LaMichael Pushia each scored four, and Dominic Scott and Michael Pushia each earned three.
D.J. Legette earned a team-high 23 points to lead Latta, and Donell Stanley added 14 points in the loss. Rajit McFadden scored eight, Ken’Che Page scored seven, and Tyrell Sabb earned five, with R.J. McClam and Charles McGill each adding four points and Darius Jones adding one.
Latta’s overall record is now 6-9 with a 4-4 record in Region 8A. Creek Bridge is now 8-12 overall and 3-5 in the region.
The Vikings were scheduled to face Dillon on Wednesday, and will be back in action next Tuesday when they travel to face Carvers Bay at 6:00 p.m.
