The Latta Vikings fell 84-64 to the Johnsonville Flashes on Tuesday in Johnsonville.
Johnsonville outscored Latta in every quarter, going 22-17 and 21-17 in the first two quarters to lead 43-34 at the half. They widened the gap in the third as they outscored the Vikings 19-11 and clinched the win in the fourth by topping the Vikings 22-19 for the final score of 84-64.
Tately Anderson led Johnsonville with a team-high 16 points, with Erion Black earning 15, Arkelious Williams adding 14, Chris Hicks scoring 11, Robert Black adding nine, and Cordea Wilson netting seven. Aaron Mack and Antron Davis each contributed four points in the win, and Savon Edwards and Shawn Lawrence each added two.
Tyrell Sabb led Latta with a game-high 17 points and Ken’che Page scored 12. Charles McGill earned nine, Donell Stanley scored eight, Rajit McFadden added seven, DJ Legette added six, and R.J. McClam scored five points for the Vikings.
Johnsonville’s boys improve to 12-4 overall and 5-1 in Region 8A. Latta slips to 4-7 overall and 3-3 in the region.
Up next, Latta will host Creek Bridge on Friday, followed by Hemingway on Tuesday, January 24. The Vikings defeated Hemingway earlier in the season, but lost to Creek Bridge on January 14. Varsity basketball action begins at 6:00 p.m., so make plans to attend!
