The Dillon Wildcats fell to Fairmont’s Golden Tornadoes 70-51 on Thursday, January 5.
Dillon had a one point lead at the end of the first quarter, 15-14, but Fairmont took control of the game in the second, outscoring the Wildcats 19-12, 18-15, and 19-9 for the non-league win.
Draquaine Floyd led Fairmont with 22 points in the win. Charlton Townsend added 17, Luke Hunt earned eight, and Jackie Oxendine, Demetrius Washington, and Jarrod Neal each earned four. Alex Gilchrist contributed five points in the win, and P.J. Taylor and Tyler Britt each scored two.
Dillon fell to 3-6 overall this season. The Wildcats were scheduled to open region play against Aynor on Tuesday, but results from the game were not available at press time.
Dillon will be at Mullins this Friday at 6:00 p.m. for their next region matchup and will host Marion on Tuesday, January 17.
