Dillon Christian School’s first basketball game of the 2011-2012 season ended in a loss as the Lady Warriors fell to florence Christian 50-27 on Tuesday, November 15.

Dillon Christian hosted the game with Florence Christian outscoring Dillon Christian in every quarter, leading 23-12 at the half. The Eagles returned for a 13-4 third quarter to lead 36-16. The Warriors managed 11 points in the fourth, but the Eagles earned 14 to finish the game with the 50-27 win.

Lauren Lee led the Lady Warriors with 12 points, including one three-pointer and four two-pointers. Amanda Bass earned seven points, and Bass, Lee, and Kathryn Brown were each 1-for-2 on free throws. Kylee Sullivan earned five points and was 1-for-4 on free throws, and Emily Prutzman sank a two-pointer.

Prutzman led the team in rebounds with a total of 17, with Brown making seven and Sullivan grabbing five. Bass made four rebounds and Lee added one.

Bass made seven steals in the game and Lee made three, while Sullivan made four assists. Lee made 14 turnovers in the game, with Bass making seven and Sullivan making six.

With one game under their belt, the Warriors will be heading to Myrtle Beach Middle School on Friday, November 18, to take on Myrtle Beach Christian at 6:45 p.m.

Next week the Lady Warriors will be participating in the Pee Dee Turkey Shootout on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at West Florence High School. Their first round opponent will be Lamar on Monday, November 21, at 6:30 p.m.

Dillon Christian will return from the Thanksgiving break to open region play on Tuesday, November 29 at The Byrnes School.

Meanwhile, the varsity boys also dropped their first game of the season with a 67-70 loss to Florence Christian in overtime on Tuesday. The boys will also be at Myrtle Beach Christian on Friday with game time set for 8:00 p.m.
