Nominations are being sought for the Dillon County, SC Veteran of the Year for 2011.
The application must be turned in to Jerry Huggins at the Dillon County Veterans Affairs office, Room 301, in the Dillon City-County Complex Building 401 W. Main Street, Dillon, SC Or by mail at P.O. Box 493, Dillon, SC 29536 by Monday, October 31, 2010 at 5 p.m.
The applicant (Veteran-Per U.S. Code, Title 38, Part 1, Chpt. 1, Section 101) must have served on Active Duty in any branch of the U.S. Military Armed Forces to include “Federally Activated” National Guard and Reserve Members. Discharge must have been under conditions OTHER than dishonorable. Active duty service must be able to be verified. Submit a copy of a discharge or other official documents with application.
1. Name submitted must be a living Veteran of Dillon County, SC.
2. Official documentation (i.e. Honorable discharge) required for proof of service.
3. Nominee will be selected by the past Dillon County Veterans of the Year and will
be announced at our annual Veterans Day Ceremony November 11, 2011.
4. Attach your (legible) response on a separate sheet of paper to this application stating why this Veteran should be selected as Veteran of the Year for 2011 and describe His/Her service to the Dillon County Community and/or service to the Dillon County Veterans’ population.
5. All entries MUST be in the Dillon County VA Office by 5:00 p.m. on October 31, 2011, to Dillon County Veterans Committee, P.O. Box 493, Dillon, SC 29536,Phone: 774-1427, Fax: 774-1428.
