Former Dillon Mayor Pro-Tem Randolph Gurley pled guilty to and was sentenced on a number of charges in General Sessions Court on Thursday with Judge Craig Brown presiding. Gurley was sentenced on the following charges:
-Assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, 8 years provided upon service of 9 months, three years probation.
-Criminal Domestic Violence first, time served of 30 days.
-Distribution of Marijuana, five years provided upon service of 9 months, two years probation.
-Distribution of Marijuana, five years provided upon service of 9 months, two years probation.
The assault and battery charge was a result of an alleged incident where Gurley was accused of intentionally striking a 20-year-old man with his Cadillac Escalade.
The criminal domestic violence charge was the result of an alleged incident with his wife.
At a bond hearing in 2010, Allen Myrick of the S.C. Attorney General’s Office said that there were recorded videos of Gurley allegedly selling drugs to a confidential informant in a separate investigation that had occurred.
Gurley served on the Dillon City Council from April 1995 until 2010.
During that time, he served as mayor pro-tem on a few occasions and was chaplain.
