A number of items were taken up at the last regular meeting of the Dillon County Council.
The council:
-heard from Sheriff Major Hulon about a grant. He will use it for three mobile radios, three vehicle radios, and two consolettes (one for 9-1-1 and one for the Sheriff’s office). He also reported that he needed new evidence software because the company that had been handling it went out of business. The purchase was approved.
-approved the purchase of new servers and installation for a total of $133,073.
-accepted the landfill trailer bid of $57,283 from Florence Truck Center.
-accepted the bid of Miller’s Heating and Cooling in the amount of $24,001 for removal of items from the Mohawk Building.
-discussed work at the county airport including the removal of two trailers. Other plans include grass removal and painting.
-discussed relocating or discontinuing the Highway 34 and Smith Road trash sites. The Hwy. 34 site is considered an eyesore, according to Economic Developer Tonny McNeil.
-accepted a bid from Kleen Air for the City-County Complex duct work.
-approved funding the finance director position.
-discussed the trees at the Latta Industrial Park.
-learned of plans to put boxes at the five high volume trash sites for recyclables.
-tabled the Dillon County Road Ordinance.
