A Dillon man has been charged in the deadly shooting of his nephew, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
Arnette said around 3 p.m., 9-1-1 received a call in reference to a gunshot victim at 2080 Bunker Hill Road. Upon arriving, those responding found the victim, who was pronounced dead.
Coroner Donnie Grimsley identified the victim as Dameon Blakely, age 28, of 2080 Bunker Hill Road, Dillon.
Arnette said there appears to have been some type of verbal altercation that led to the shooting.
The victim’s uncle, John Blakely, age 49, of Dillon, has been charged with manslaughter in the case.
Bartell Funeral Home is in charge of Blakely’s arrangements.
