Dillon’s Dixie Belles spent the weekend in South Hill, Virginia, for the start of the 2011 Dixie Softball Belles World Series.
The opening ceremonies were held on Friday, July 29, at North Bend Park Amphitheater, overlooking Kerr Lake in Boydton, Virginia. Obie Evans, President of Dixie Softball, Inc., delivered the opening ceremony address. The players and coaches were introduced as part of the ceremonies, which included dancing and pre-ceremony entertainment from Upper Level Band out of South Boston, Virginia.
On Saturday, the Belles lost their opening game against Georgia, sending them to the loser bracket to face Tennessee. All of Sunday’s games were rained out, so Dillon will face McEwen, Tennessee, today at 12:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, in Louisiana’s Dixie Ponytails World Series, Dillon won their first game on Saturday, but the Dillon Ponytails were eliminated after suffering two loses on Sunday.
