Services for Daniel Lacy Coleman will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in Catfish Creek Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Coleman, 87, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Dillon, October 22, 1923, he was the son of the late Major David Coleman and Dessie Hayes Coleman. He was a member of Catfish Creek Baptist Church, was a U.S. Navy Veteran as a Medic, attached to 3rd Division of the Marines, and was a retired Farmer and Teacher, having taught 37 years with 10 years in administration in Charleston, Marion and Dillon Counties, Florence-Darlington Technical College and Chesterfield Technical College.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Maurine M. Coleman of Latta; daughters, Mary Coleman (Jim) Crump of Summerville, SC, Dana Coleman (Michael) Fore of Lexington, SC, and Debbie Coleman (David) Edge of Enterprise, AL; step-children, Gary V. (Linda) Haley of Columbus, Mississippi, and Sandra M. Hubbell of Bandon, Oregon; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
