Hamer’s Townsend Hamilton and Dillon’s Jim Carr each earned top spots in the South Carolina Junior Golfers Association (SCJGA) Hootie and the Blowfish Pee Dee Chapter tournaments held on June 13 at Oakdale Country Club and on June 17 at Governor’s Run Golf Club.

At the Oakdale Country Club, Nick Schuster of Florence won the Tour Players Division with a 5 over-par 77. Hamilton tied with Jon Lurie Pate of Coward, both just one shot behind Schuster, with Hamilton taking second place in a playoff. Hamilton also won the Florence Boys Jr. Golf Tournament earlier in June.

The Tour Players division, for boys ages 15-18, also included several players from Latta. Michael Todd McWhite shot an 85, while Aaron Gardner and Smith Gaddy each shot a 99.

In the Players division, for boys age 13-14, Carr tied with Turbeville’s Justin Muller at 92, and Carr won the first place slot in a playoff.

Harrison Breeden of Florence took first place in the Mini-Tour division, for boys age 10-12, with a one-over-par 37 and a seven-shot lead. Latta’s Joshua Mitchell finished in second place, shooting a 44.

In the Pee Wee division, for boys ages 8-9, James Hagood Potter and Michael Hobbs, both of Florence, tied for first at 47, with Potter winning in a playoff. Lake View’s Dylan Rogers finished in third, shooting a 55.

In the Ladies Tour, Lauren Bink of Florence claimed first place with a six-shot lead at 45. Ashley Rogers of Lake View shot a 56.

At the Governor’s Run Golf Club, Hamilton slipped third place with a 74 as Lake City’s Ryan Parrott and Coward’s John Lurie Pate tied at 72. Parrott picked up the win in a playoff.

Latta players in the tournament included Michael Todd McWhite, who shot an 83; Aaron Gardner, 87; Smith Gaddy, 89; and Kevin Driggers, 95.

Carr was once again first place in the Players Division, scoring a 43 for a five-shot lead over second place Jacob Tanner of Johnsonville.

In the Mini-Tour, Harrison Breeden finished first at 42, with Latta’s Joshua Mitchell taking second with a 46.

Potter claimed the top slot in the Pee Wee Division with a 47, while Lake View’s Dylan Rogers finished with a 66.

In the Ladies Tour, Salina Somoda of Florence took first place with a 41, eight shots ahead of second place Madison Clary of Florence. Lake View’s Ashley Rogers shot a 58.

The next SCJGA event was scheduled to be held at Traces Golf Club in Florence on Friday, June 24.
