The Friends of the Dillon County Library donated books to support “Reading in the Park.”
The purpose for this donation was to help ensure that children have books to read. Reading in the Park is designed to encourage children to continue reading while they are out of school for the summer.
This is an annual event sponsored by the Dillon/Marion Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Mrs. Willie Dell McQueen of Dillon and Committee Chairperson, received the donation on sorority’s behalf.
The program was held on Saturday, June 04, 2011, at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 702 Mill Street, Marion. Mavis Jones, Children’s Librarian for Dillon County Library System, presented the new donated books. Ms. Jones said, “We are honored to donate to the success of our children.”
