Latta was eliminated from the lower state baseball playoffs on Wednesday, May 11, as Bamberg-Ehrhardt defeated the Vikings 7-1 in Bamberg.

Latta held the Red Raiders scoreless until the third inning, when Bamberg managed five runs for a 5-0 lead. The Red Raiders would run in two more in the fourth to lead 7-0, allowing Latta just one run in the seventh.

Latta had seven hits and three errors in the game, while Bamberg-Ehrhardt had eight hits and five errors.

John Kever Love took the loss for Latta, pitching three and one-third innings for seven hits, seven runs, and two earned runs, striking out three.

Bamberg’s Chandler claimed the win, pitching a complete game with only seven hits and one run, striking out only one Viking.

Latta’s leading hitters were Matt Rogers, 3-for-4 with a double, and Drew Benson, 2-for-3.

Latta finishes the season with a 16-7 record, while Bamberg moved on to the lower state championship game, where they fell to Lake View on Friday.
