Mount Calvary Baptist Church held two special services on Easter Sunday in honor of our Risen Savior.

The first service was a sunrise service held at 7 am. Debbie Hill sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and Gene Tanner sang “Glorious day”. The sermon was from Job 19:25-27. Job had terrible times and overwhelming times in his life, but in it all he said, “I know that my Redeemer lives…” Breakfast was served immediately following the service.

The second service was the 11 a.m. morning worship service. There was a portrayal of Jesus going to the cross, dying on the cross, and rising again. Josh Walters played the part of Jesus and Bobbie Meekins and Jeff Tanner played the parts of the Roman soldiers. Songs were sung during the portrayal. Soloists were: Debbie Hill singing “Written in Red”, B.J. Powers singing and playing the guitar to a song he had written himself entitled “Heaven’s Way”, Gene tanner singing “Glorious Day”, and Gene Tanner singing “No Other Name” as banners were paraded through the sanctuary. The sermon was on the New Covenant taken from Hebrews chapters 8 and 9.
