In their closest game of the season to date, Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators narrowly defeated Green Sea-Floyds 3-2 on Tuesday.

Both teams scored a run in the first to tie things up through the second. In the bottom of the third, Lake View added one run to take the lead, and added another in the third to put them up 3-1. The Lady Gators and Lady Trojans held each other off until the seventh, when the Trojans added one more point to give Lake View their closest win of the season at 3-2.

Avonlea Cooke was the winning pitcher for Lake View, going all seven innings and giving up four hits, two runs, an earned run, and two walks. Cooke struck out seven.

Hope Elliott was the losing pitcher for the Trojans, pitching six innings for seven hits, three runs, an earned run, and a walk. Elliott struck out three.

Lake View’s leading hitters were Brittany Floyd, 2-for-2 with two RBIs; Chelsea Spivey, 1-for-3 with an RBI; Chessie Miller, 1-for-3 with one run scored; and Kayla Sanderson, 1-for-3 with one run scored.

Lake View remains on top of the Region 8-A softball with an undefeated 7-0 region record. Their overall record is 13-1, with their only loss coming from Dillon in the preseason. Lake View was scheduled to travel to Dillon on Wednesday for a non-conference game.

On Friday, April 8, Lake View will be at Johnsonville at 5:30 p.m. Next week, the Lady Gators travel to Cheraw on Monday for a makeup game from March 30, and on Tuesday, they’ll travel to Carvers Bay to take on the Lady Bears at 5:30 p.m.
