Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators went 12-2 over the Carvers Bay Bears in Friday night’s softball action in Lake View.
The Lady Wild Gators scored two in the first inning and added three each in the second and third to give them a solid lead over the Bears, who scored both of their runs in the third. Lake View added two points each in the fourth and sixth inning for their 12 point total.
The winning pitcher was Avonlea Cooke with four innings pitched, two hits, two runs, one walk, and five strike outs. Ariel Graham pitched for the Lady Bears, going the complete game and allowing 11 hits, 12 runs, seven earned runs, four walks, and getting one strike out.
Leading hitters were Morgan Herlong, 2-for-3 with two runs; Sierra Sports, 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI; Chessie Miller, 1-for-2 with three runs; and Chelsea Spivey, 1-for-3 with a run and four RBIs.
The lead hitter for Carvers Bay was Andy Cannon who went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Lake View’s record improves to 10-1 overall, and the win gives them an undefeated 5-0 record in Region 8-A.
The Lady Wild Gators will next host Dillon on Wednesday, March 23 at 6:00 p.m. in a non-region game. Lake View previously lost to Dillon in Latta’s preseason tournament.
On Friday, Lake View will travel to face region foes and county rivals Latta at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Vikings are 6-1 in regular season play, and 9-6-1 overall this season.
