Della Calhoun Dove, 61, of Castle Hayne, NC, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 at her residence.
Della Calhoun Dove was born on February 24th, 1950 in Columbia, SC to parents James R.C. Calhoun and Doris Atkins Calhoun. One of six children, she was raised in Hamer, SC, attended Dillon High School, and graduated from Francis Marion University working in education for two decades. The true joy in her life came from her faith and her family. Known and loved for her bubbly personality, Della was happiest when surrounded by her friends, family, and pets.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jim Dove, her daughter Mandy Dove Houvouras, and loving family across the South. She was a treasure to those who knew her and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Wrightsboro Baptist Church at 1:00 pm, immediately followed by a Church Service at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials in her honor may be made to the Wrightsboro Baptist Church Family Life Center, 2736 Castle Hayne Rd., Wilmington, NC 28401.
