Piggly Wiggly #155 is celebrating the grand opening of their store in Dillon at 1420 Highway 301 South, Dillon.
According to Manager Barry Allen, the grand opening began on January 17th and ends on February 15th.
A ribbon cutting was held at the store on Tuesday, February 8th with store and county officials. County Administrator Clay Young said he is excited that Piggly Wiggly decided to locate in Dillon County. Young said this is convenient for citizens in this part of the county.
Manager Allen said they were excited to be here. He said they had made many improvements and were still in the process of making more.
Free giveaways are being held including t-shirts. A drawing will be held on Friday, February 11 at 4 p.m. for two $100 Piggly Wiggly gift cards.
The entire inside and outside has been painted and updated, and many more improvements are in progress. Once inside, shoppers can choose from an array of Piggly Wiggly products, Tablerite meats, Piggly Wiggly/Carolina Company produce of Charleston and numerous brand name products. Shoppers will also have the opportunity earn Greenbax stamps.
The Dillon store, which is operated by same family as the Marion store, employs 17 people in Dillon with plans to add five to eight more people.
Barry Allen is serving as manager. He has worked in the grocery business for 29 years with 23 years at Piggly Wiggly/Carolina Company. His wife, Wendy, is manager of the Piggly Wiggly in Andrews.
Ronald Rowell of Dillon is serving as assistant manager. He has 24 years experience in the grocery business having worked at various local grocery stores. He has a wife, Terra, and two sons, Jaylin, age 5, and Terron, age 7. Rowell said he is excited to be serving his family and friends and for the opportunity to come to the Dillon store.
