BOYS

The Latta boys haven’t fared as well this season as their female counterparts, and despite a hard-fought game, the Vikings fell to the Trojans with a final score of 77-69.

The two teams started on fairly equal footing, with Latta taking the first quarter 21-20. The Vikings seemed to be in the drivers seat at half-time after a 17-13 second quarter put them ahead 38-33 going into the third. The Vikings returned from the break to outscore the Trojans 20-17, starting the fourth with an eight-point lead.

But after leading most of the game, the Vikings lost control in the fourth. Green Sea-Floyds came charging back, posting 27 points to Latta’s 11 and putting them eight points ahead for the final score of Trojans 77, Vikings 69.

The loss leaves the Vikings at 3-12 overall and 2-7 in Region 8A, while Green Sea-Floyds improves to 16-5 and 6-4.

The Vikings were scheduled to play Creek Bridge in a make-up game on Monday, February 7, before traveling to Johnsonville to face the Flashes on Tuesday, February 8. Creek Bridge is number two in the region with a 16-5, 7-3 record. Johnsonville is currently 11-8 and 6-5 on the season.
