The Williamsburg Academy Stallions rolled over the Dillon Christian School Warriors on Tuesday, with the Warriors falling 53-47 and the Lady Warriors falling 44-30.
The Lady Stallions kicked things off 12-2 in the first quarter of the girls game, and despite a 7-5 rally from the Lady Warriors in the second, the Stallions were leading 17-9 going into the third. Williamsburg outscored DCS 16-11 and 11-10 in the third and fourth to secure the 11-point victory.
Williamsburg Academy’s Anna Taylor scored a game-high 18 points for the Stallions. Emma Easler and Katie Kellahan each made seven points, and Niki McCrea and Carsten Walker each added six.
For the Lady Warriors, Amber Wiggins led with 13 points. Morgan Graham added eight, Amber Bass added three, and Catherine Brown, Kylee Sullivan, and Emily Prutzman each added two.
The Lady Warriors fall 2-11 overall and 0-10 in the region. The Williamsburg Academy Lady Stallions improve to 9-8 overall and 5-4 in SCISA Region 4-2A.
BOYS
The Dillon Christian Warriors got off to a good start in their matchup, outscoring the Stallions 15-4 in the first quarter. Williamsburg outscored DCS in the fourth, 12-7, but the Warriors maintained the lead, 22-16, at the half.
The game turned in the third, with Williamsburg returning to the court and claiming 27 points to Dillon Christian’s 17 to put them ahead 43-39 going into the fourth. The Stallions sealed the deal by outscoring DCS 10-8 for a final score of 53-47.
Kin Melvin scored a game-high 22 points for the Warriors, with Parker Coleman adding 13. Tyler Davis earned six points, Matthew Price made four, and Neil Melvin contributed two.
Shuler Ward led Williamsburg with 18 points and Tyis Cunningham was close behind with 17. Tyler Braynon added 11, Tyrone Singletary made four, and Christopher Kellahan added three.
The loss drops DCS to 3-8 overall and 3-5 in the SCISA Region 4-2A. The Stallions rise to 9-8 and 6-3.
Next up, the Warriors are scheduled to travel to Marlboro Academy on Friday, January 28. On Monday, January 31, the junior varsity and varsity boys will travel to face New Prospect Christian at 4:00 p.m. The New Prospect boys are currently undefeated.
