The Dillon Christian School Warriors earned their first win on Friday, January 14, conquering the Pee Dee Academy Eagles 54-46.
Pee Dee started out well in the first quarter, outscoring DCS 9-5. But they lost traction the second, and the Warriors took advantage, outscoring the Eagles 14-11 in the second and narrowing the Eagle’s lead to 20-19 at half-time.
The Warriors continued to dominate after the break, outscoring the Eagles in the third, 13-10, with two three-pointers from Kin Melvin and goals from Neil Melvin and Parker Coleman, giving the Warriors a 32-30 lead.
The Warriors continued to dominate in the fourth with two more three-pointers from Kin Melvin and a three-pointer from Parker Coleman. They outscored the Eagles 22-16 to claim the victory with a final score of 54-46.
The Warriors improved their record to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the region. They were next scheduled to face The King’s Academy on Tuesday, but scores and stats were not immediately available.
Next up, the Warriors are scheduled to face The Byrnes Schools in Florence on Friday, January 21, with junior varsity action beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Then the Warriors travel to Williamsburg Academy on Tuesday, January 25, before hosting a make-up game against Trinity Collegiate on Thursday, January 27. They’ll wrap up the week on Friday, January 28, with a trip to face Marlboro Academy in Bennettsville.
