The Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors suffered a pair of losses in the past week, falling to Pee Dee Academy on Friday and King’s Academy on Tuesday.

The Lady Warriors started Friday’s matchup with the Pee Dee Academy Eagles with a battle between team captains Morgan Graham of DCS and Jeffre Rogers of Pee Dee. The two led the scoring for the entire first quarter, but Pee Dee Academy had a five point lead by the end of the first, 14-9.

DCS started mounting a comeback in the second, winning the round 7-5, but slipped in the third, 6-8, before Pee Dee dominated the final quarter 16-7. The final score was Pee Dee 43, DCS 29.

Graham scored a team-high 12 of the Warriors’ final score, with Amber Wiggins adding eight points and Lauren Lee adding seven. Kathryn Brown also scored two points.

Graham made two of three three-point attempts, six steals, and three assists. Wiggins had eight offensive rebounds and six defensive, for a total of 14 rebounds. Wiggins also made four out of six free throws and three steals.

Tuesday, the Lady Warriors traveled to face The King’s Academy Lions, walking away with a 41-27 loss.

King’s Academy dominated every quarter with scores of 13-10, 8-6, 8-7, and 12-4, with the Lions’ Lisa VanBaaren scoring a team-high 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Addie Bokelman added nine points to the Lions’ win, and Taylor Weatherford added seven. Anna VanBaaren made six points, and Sarah Parks and Shannon Edmounds each made three.

Amber Wiggins earned a game-high 16 points for Dillon Christian, with Morgan Graham adding six points and Lauren Lee making five.

Wiggins made eight of eight free throws, and 15 total rebounds: three offensive, and 12 defensive. Wiggins also made five steals and an assists.

Graham made seven total rebounds and 10 steals. Lee had two rebounds, and Graham and Lee each made a three-pointer. Kathryn Brown made four total rebounds and Emily Prutzman, three.

The losses bring the Lady Warriors’ record to 2-8 overall and 0-7 in the region. King’s Academy improves to 6-7 and 4-4 in the region.

Next up for the Lady Warriors will be a trip to The Byrnes Schools on Friday, January 21, at 6:00 p.m. Byrnes is currently 12-6 overall and 6-1 in the region.

Next week the Warriors travel to Williamsburg Academy on Tuesday, January 25, then play host to Trinity Collegiate on Thursday, January 27, in a make-up game from January 11. Friday, January 28, they’ll travel to Bennettsvile to face Marlboro Academy.
