The Dillon Christian School Warriors fell to Williamsburg Academy by only four points in Tuesday night’s matchup.

The Warriors got off to a strong start, outscoring Williamsburg 17-4 in the first quarter. But the Stallions inched ahead 8-7 in the second, and then dominated the final half 18-6 and 21-17, to bring the final score to Williamsburg 51, DCS 47.

Kin Melvin led Dillon Christian with a team-high 13 points. Parker Coleman added 11 points, and Matthew Price and Tyler Davis each added eight. Neil Melvin made four points, and Will Brown added three.

Tyis Cunningham scored a game-high 19 points for Williamsburg Academy. Also scoring for Williamsburg were Shuler Ward, 11; Tyrone Singletary, 6; Tyler Braynon, 4; Christopher Kellahan, 3; Will Ward, 2; and Joe Fransi, 2.

The win improves the Stallion’s record to 6-5 overall and 3-1 in SCISA 4-2A. Dillon Christian’s record falls to 0-6.

The Warriors will next take on the Florence Christian Eagles in Florence tonight at 4:00 p.m. The Eagles are currently 4-4 for the season.

Then on Friday, they’ll travel to Carolina Academy to take on the Bobcats before returning home on Monday, January 10, to host New Prospect Christian of Pamplico. New Prospect Christian is currently 5-0.
