A Dillon man is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend in a local clothing store on December 27th.
Derrick Lamont Jones, 33, 1818 Acorn Drive, Dillon, is charged with attempted murder and discharging a firearm in city limits in connection with the incident.
According to an incident report by Sgt. Eric Poston of the City of Dillon Police Department, when he arrived at the scene, the victim, a 28-year-old woman from Dillon, was lying face down near the checkout counter at CitiTrends. She had been shot in the back and had a large laceration to her thumb. She was transported to the hospital by EMS.
The report states that later, Jones turned himself in at the police department. Other officers mentioned in the report as assisting at the scene were PFC. Maciel, Cpl. Michael Yoder, PFC. Ronald Graham, Sgt. James Hayes, Sgt. Jason Turner, and Lt. Lorenzo Owens.
