At a called meeting of the Dillon County Council on Tuesday afternoon, the council voted 4-2 to terminate the rollover provision in County Administrator David Mobley’s contract. The vote came after a nearly hour long executive session.

During the discussion prior to the vote, it was stated that the contract rolls over every three months and that the county administrator must be notified in writing of plans to terminate this.

County Councilman Harold Moody presented County Attorney Dan Shine with a document and asked if it was sufficient to do this. Shine said if it passed that the document would immediately terminate the rollover provision in his contract.

H. Moody made a motion to terminate the rollover provision. This was seconded by Councilman Andrew “Deboy” Graves. Voting for this motion were H. Moody, Graves, Councilman Archie Scott, and Councilman James “Pee Wee” Webster. Voting against the motion were Councilman Aron Gandy and Councilman Bobby Moody. County Council Chairman Macio Williamson did not vote.

Immediately following this vote, Gandy made a motion to adjourn which was seconded by B. Moody. Only Gandy, B. Moody, and Williamson voted to adjourn.

This resulted in a spat among the councilmen. More details will be in Thursday’s issue of The Dillon Herald.
