A local man was killed by his family dog, according to Detective Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
Arnette said that Justin Lane, age 25, of Skillet Road was found by his mother at their home. He said the cause of death was due to a dog attack.
Arnette said they are unsure as to why the pit bull dog did attack. He said he was told that they had not had problems with the dog before.
SLED Crime Scene was called in to assist in processing the scene. Coroner Randy Grimsley ordered an autopsy.
Arnette said the investigation is ongoing, and at this point, it is not known whether or not the dog will be put down.
