A 72-year-old man walking on an amazing journey stopped in Dillon last week at the City of Dillon Wellness Center.
Sabalsinh Vala from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India started in Toronto and was heading to Key West on this leg of his journey.
Prior to this, he walked to the four corners of India.
He read “Around the World in 80 Days” and decided to take a journey of 800 days on foot around the world.
Next year, he plans to walk from San Francisco to New York.
On his journey, he has learned that people are very giving with many people providing him food and lodging.
He would like to give a message to youngsters that walking is the best exercise. He said when you walk your keep your body fit and your mind fit so that you can face challenges in the future.
He would also like to send a message to seniors that they are of use. He said he has found a joy in walking and other seniors can do the same with their interests.
Vala spent the night in Latta during his stay at the Latta Motel.
