Dillon High School’s Beth Hinson has been named Dillon School District Two 2010-2011 District Teacher of the Year. Dillon School District Two announced Mrs. Hinson’s selection during the September 20th board meeting honoring all Teachers of the Year for the 2010-2011 school year.
As the district winner, Mrs. Hinson will receive $1,000 and will be eligible to represent Dillon District Two in the 2011-2012 State Teacher of the Year Program. This year’s state winner received $25,000 and the use of a BMW Roadster for one year.
“Mrs. Hinson is an outstanding teacher,” said Superintendent Ray Rogers. “She has been a teacher in Dillon School District Two for 23 years at Dillon High School, earned National Board certification, supervised Dillon High School Teacher Cadet program, District Induction Seminar Teacher and High School Mentor Coordinator. Mrs. Hinson’s passion and commitment for her student’s achievement and success is a quality that is visible in the district and in the community. Mrs. Hinson also won District Teacher of the Year in 2002.” Mrs. Hinson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1985 from Medical University of South Carolina. She began her career in 1987 at Dillon High School.
Teachers elected as their school’s Teacher of the Year for 2010-2011 included: Jennifer Walters, physical education teacher at East Elementary, Pam Daniels, special education resource teacher at South Elementary, Sandy Stephens, first grade teacher at Stewart Heights Elementary, Patricia Page, 4th grade teacher at Gordon Elementary, Shannon Berry, seventh grade science teacher at J.V. Martin Junior High, and Beth Hinson, a biology teacher at Dillon High School.
