Ben Frank Hayes, 70, of Pamplico passed away on September 21, 2010 at Carolina’s Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Hayes was born in Dillon County on March 8, 1940, a son of the late H.H. & Katie Lupo Hayes. He retired from the SC Highway Patrol in 1993 after 26 years of service. He owned & operated Hayes Video & Flowers for several years after he retired from the patrol.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years Ann Herring Hayes; daughters, Melissa (Wayne) Howell and Cathy (James) Achee; 3 grandsons whom he dearly loved, Benjamin Cooper, Matthew Cooper, and Nicholas Achee and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Hayes of Dillon and Catherine Hayes Moody of Charleston.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and all staff of Carolina’s Hospital System for the excellent, loving care he received. We would like to especially thank the staff of CVICU & Hemodialysis.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel in Dillon. Burial will follow at Hayestown Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home.
