Mrs. Mary Alice Johnson, 83, of Fayetteville, the wife of the late John F. Johnson, Jr., passed Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A Celebration of Her Life was held Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 2 p.m. in Snyder Memorial Baptist Church in Fayetteville with Rev. John Cook officiating. The burial was followed in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Gray’s Creek, N.C.
She was born April 15, 1927, in Latta, S.C. She was a mother of four children, who taught piano in several area schools and in her home. She was a devoted member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church and she loved traveling with her friends, singing, and belonging to the Prime Timer Group. Foremost, she was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Karen Wilson and her husband, Robert, of Lancaster, S.C.;  Marlene Johnson of Fayetteville, Franklin Johnson and his wife, Jo Beth, of Fayetteville, and Patty Spicer of Fayetteville; brother, Dan Coleman of Latta and 6 grandchildren, Stephen Wilson of Charlotte, Janet Tucker of Iva, S.C., Ashley Johnson of Atlanta, Holly Johnson of Ralieigh, N.C., Caroline Spicer of Fayetteville, and Emily Spicer of Fayetteville and 4 great grandchildren.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville  and other times at 370 Valley Road.
