Harmon Lee Shelley, age 88, of Laurinburg died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at his home with his immediate family and minister by his side.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Saint Luke United Methodist Church officiated by the Revs. David Blackmon and Bill Wells.   Visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Dillon, SC.
Harmon was a beloved husband father, grandfather, and friend.  He was born in Marion Co., SC on March 13, 1922 to the late Lee Roy Shelley and Myrtle Payne Shelley.  He grew up on the family farm near Mullins and served in the US Army in World War II.
On June 4, 1944 he married Billie Gwen Gaddy of Dillon.
After the war he relocated to Laurinburg where he owned and operated Laurinburg Department Store for 34 years.  He was an avid gardener and church member.
He is survived by his faithful wife of 66 years, Billie, daughters, Susan S. (Bill) Rogers of North Myrtle Beach and Sandy S. (Frankie) Stephens of Dillon, SC; three grandchildren, Gwen R. (Chuck) Dumas of Southern Pines, Lynn R. (Chip) Broadlocks of Hendersonville; and Frances S. Stephens of Dillon; 3 great grandchildren, Sam Holste, Lance Broadbooks, and Isabel Dumas; a step-brother, Lanneau Lambert of Durham.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty S. Gunnels.
