Mrs. Bessie Mae Chavis, 55, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010 at her residence after an illness.
Born in Dillon County, SC, August 27, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Hunt and Bessie Owens Hunt.  She was a homemaker who loved gardening, and helping people any way that she could.  She was a faithful member of Pee Dee Chapel Baptist Church and served as an usher and as church custodian.
She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Daniel Chavis of the home; daughter, Christina Jane Hunt of Little Rock, SC; brothers, James Elbert “Boy” Hunt of Little Rock, SC; sisters, Robin (Ricky) Driggers of Laurinburg, NC, Donna Rose Hunt of Maxton, NC, Teressa Hunt of Little Rock, SC and Ella Jane Hunt Rowell of Dillon; a host of nieces and nephews & great-nieces and nephews & other relatives; and her faithful dog “Chrissie.”
Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by her brothers, Dudley Hunt, James Earl Hunt and Douglas Hunt and sisters, Gladys Jacobs and Sarah Jane Hunt.
Funeral services were held 4 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010, in Pee Dee Chapel Baptist Church.  Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Rogers Funeral Home in McColl.
