LATTA – Ruby Coates McLellan, 102, passed away in Sunny Acres Nursing Home June 12, 2010.
Funeral services are 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel in Latta.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 3:00 to 4:00 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Latta, SC.
Mrs. McLellan was born in Latta, SC, on March 27, 1908 the daughter of the late Lillie Clark and James Linson Coates. She was a talented pianist and taught piano for many years in Latta and was a member of Mt. Andrew Methodist Church. Mrs. McLellan was predeceased by her husband, Daniel David McLellan.
She is survived by her son, William David McLellan of Dillon, SC, and her daughter, Brenda (Johnny) Sweat of Kannapolis, NC, and her sister, Alene Caulder of Latta. Her surviving three grandchildren are John A. (Dana) Sweat, Jr., Kevin D. (Jennifer) Sweat, and David Lee. Mrs. McLellan was also predeceased by one daughter, Peggy McLellan and one grandchild, Tammy S. Burnett. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren Tripp Burnett, Brandon, Brittany, and Savannah Sweat, and Loren Coleman.
She was predeceased by her sisters Gertrude McLellan, Nellie Stafford, and Mollie Coates, and brothers Wayne and Clifford Coates.
