Lake View’s Moody Named Defensive Player of the Year

Lake View’s Jeremy Moody was recently named the Division II Defensive Player of the Year and several local players were named to the Class A All-State team.

Moody lead the Gators in tackles this season and helped Lake View make it all the way to the Division II state title game, where Lake View fell 42-28 to defending champ Hunter-Kinard-Tyler.

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler’s Khaliq Anthony was the Division II Offensive Player of the Year and coach Dan Holland was named the Division II Coach of the Year.

Lake View’s Christian McDaniel and Reco Brown were also named to the All-State team, along with Latta’s Jackson Williams.

The All-State team also includes Dashonnell Wright, Jordan Fair, Alex Miller and Adam Cohick from McBee; Labradford Abson, Tre Caesar, Hunter Collins, and Auddy Tedder of Lamar; Xavier Weaver, Eishawn Funnye, and Jeremy Vernon of Hemingway; Darren Butler of Creek Bridge; Jakar Beach of Hannah-Pamplico; Jalen Moore of Timmonsville; Martin Buffkin of C.E. Murray; and Marquice Elmore of East Clarendon.

Division I’s Coach of the Year was Don Frost of Christ Church. Andrew Slade of Christ Church and Lasamuel Davis of Bamberg-Ehrhardt were the offensive and defensive players of the year for Division I.
